Shuree Sarantuya

DE/Shuree Sarantuya ist eine seit 2019 in Köln lebende Medienkünstlerin und Aktivistin. Geboren und aufgewachsen ist sie in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolei. Sie schloss 2016 ihr Bachelorstudium mit dem Schwerpunkt Film- und Rundfunkregie an der Mongolischen Staatlichen Universität für Kunst und Kultur ab. Bis Februar 2024 studierte sie an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Game-Engine-basierten Video-Content. Die meisten ihrer Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit ethnischen Minderheiten, den letzten Nomadenstämmen und indigenen Völkern in Nord-, Ost- und Zentralasien. Sie basiert auf künstlerischer Forschung und nomadischem Wissen, das zu einem experimentellen Prozess führt, bei dem sie verschiedene digitale Medien verwendet, um den ständigen Übergang bzw. die Migration eines Nomadenhaushalts zu einem sesshaften Lebensstil darzustellen. EN/Shuree Sarantuya is a media artist and activist living in Cologne since 2019. She was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She graduated from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in 2016 with a bachelor's degree specializing in film and broadcast directing. Until February 2024 she studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, with a focus on game engine-based video content. Most of her work centers on ethnic minorities, the last nomadic tribes, and indigenous peoples in North, East, and Central Asia. She bases her practice on artistic research and nomadic knowledge that leads to an experimental procedure in which she uses diverse digital media to depict the constant transition/migration of a nomadic household to a sedentary lifestyle.
