Shuree Sarantuya is a media artist and activist living in Cologne since 2019. She was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She graduated from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in 2016 with a bachelor's degree specializing in film and broadcast directing. Until February 2024 she studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, with a focus on game engine-based video content. Most of her work centers on ethnic minorities, the last nomadic tribes, and indigenous peoples in North, East, and Central Asia. She bases her practice on artistic research and nomadic knowledge that leads to an experimental procedure in which she uses diverse digital media to depict the constant transition/migration of a nomadic household to a sedentary lifestyle.
